cinch Championship (away) v Arbroath, Saturday 23rd December 2023, kick off 3.00pm at Gayfield Park

Dunfermline face a tricky away fixture on the last Saturday before Christmas. After a run of eight defeats the Red Lichties new manager, Jim McIntyre, conjured up a victory at Inverness, one of the most feared places to go in the league. The Fifers will want to get back to winning ways and should be confident after putting three past their hosts in a home win just last month.

Arbroath 1 Dunfermline 5

Dunfermline went ahead in sixth minute after Todorov set up Todd to his left to cut the ball back across the penalty box. Todorov left it for MACDONALD to his right to score his first goal of the season. 0-1

Wighton launched a great ball up the park and TODD carried the ball from just inside his own half to beat Gill with a left footed shot at the left upright. 0-2

Three minutes later in 22 minutes, Kyle BENEDICTUS powered a shot on target from a Chalmers corner and despite Fosu`s efforts on the goalline it was 0-3. A Hamilton shot got blocked but when Macdonald came in from the right he chipped the ball for TODD to head into the bottom left. 0-4

Chalmers picked out Todd from his own half and his pass in 68 minutes WIGHTON ran on to convert in style to the top right. 0-5. A 74th Linn free kick was headed behind and from the corner on the left O`BRIEN hammered the ball home from the right. 1-5

Recent Form

Arbroath`s win at the Caledonian Stadium last Saturday halted a run of eight defeats in a row. Earlier in the season they won three in a row at home but the third of those back in September was their last win at Gayfield.

The Pars have won just two of their last six matches and of course one of those was over Arbroath. The last four Fifers defeats were all against teams above them in the league and they did win their last game on the road at Airdrie just two weeks ago.
