On 8th May 2015 the Board of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club were delighted to announce the appointment of Allan Johnston as First Team Manager. He signed an initial one year contract, with an extension option.

Allan already proved to be a young, forward thinking manager, who had already achieved success at both Kilmarnock and Queen of the South.

The Board had set strict criteria in terms of the exact qualities and experience we were looking for, and Allan fitted the bill in every respect.

Allan had 25 years` experience in the game as a full time player, coach and full time manager. As a player he represented his country on 18 occasions and has experience of playing at the highest level in Scotland, England and abroad.

On his appointment Allan said:-

"I want to be successful, you can see that just talking to the directors, the supporters, everybody at this club is desperate for success and I am no different. I will be giving everything to make sure that we get that."

Allan Johnston led the team to the League One title in his first season but after making the Premiership play offs in 2018 he struggled for results in 2018-2019 and was relieved of his position in January 2019.
