News and Events | Lucas Fyfe Joins a Very Elite Group

Lucas Fyfe`s goal against Airdrieonians on 14th March 2026 places him as the club`s sixth youngest goalscorer of all time.

It has been quite a season for 17-year-old Lucas Fyfe, and it`s not finished yet writes Dunfermline Athletic Historian, Duncan Simpson. From impressing in pre-season games when he scored a cracker against Kelty Hearts, to finding himself in the starting line-up for the Pars in the Premier Sports Cup against Dumbarton, it was a whirlwind start.

Then in the new year after a successful loan spell at Lowland League club Bo`ness United, becoming very much a part of Neil Lennon`s first team squad, scoring his first senior goal and very nearly making history in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Falkirk when his shot rattled the crossbar.

We`ve been doing a bit of research around Lucas` achievements and they are impressive. His goal against Airdrieonians on 14th March 2026 places him as the club`s sixth youngest goalscorer of all time. Quite an achievement, and to give you an idea of the kind of company he is in, here`s our top ten youngest goalscorers (in official national league and cup competitions):

Not only is Lucas one of our youngest ever goalscorers, but he is also now officially the youngest ever Dunfermline Athletic player to take to the field in a major Cup semi-final tie. He replaces George McKimmie in the top spot. George`s claim to fame was coming on as a sub in the European Cup Winners Cup semi-final against Slovan Bratislava on 23 April 1969 `“ George was aged 17 years and 278 days. The previous youngest in a Scottish Cup semi-final was the aforementioned Tom Callaghan who was 18 years and 121 days old when he started against Rangers in the 1964 semi-final.

All of this leaves us with the thought about the forthcoming Final. The youngest player to take part in any major final for the Pars is Greg Ross who was 18 when he played in the 2006 League Cup Final. In the Scottish Cup, Cammy Fraser (1961), Alex Edwards (1965), Adam Hammill (2007) and Iain Williamson (2007) were the youngest at 19 years of age. Should Neil Lennon decide to give Lucas any game time in the Final, he will comfortably break the existing records.
