The second draw between these sides this season was played in horrid wet and windy conditions that were certainly not conducive to good football.
Dunfermline`s final match of the first half of the William Hill Championship campaign was away to ninth placed Queen`s Park at the city Stadium. It was typical weather for the second week in December, wet, dull with gusts of cold wind. The floodlights brightened up a very nice looking playing surface even during the warm up.
There were two changes to the Pars starting eleven, Charlie Gilmour and Barney Stewart coming in for John Tod and Chris Kane. Queens Park made one change, welcoming back their top goalscorer Josh Fowler `“ a major threat having scored 14 goals in 17 appearances this season. Former Pars Euan Murray, Aidan Connolly and Louis Longridge familiar faces in the Spiders line up.
With the rain pelting down the visitors playing in their third strip for the first time were led out by Chris Hamilton and it was the home side that kicked off into the driving rain attacking the goal at the south end of the ground. Billy Terrell was the first keeper to be called into action holding a dangerous delivery from a third minute Louis Longridge free kick from just inside the Pars half.

Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen, Chris Hamilton (kick on leg) and Nurudeen Abdulai (ball blasted in his face) all required stoppages within the first ten minutes. Dunfermline played with ten men as it took nine minutes to patch up Chilokoa-Mullen who picked up a nasty cut on his face in a tackle.
Andrew Tod forced the first Pars corner in 15th minute but Calum Ferrie rose to hold Matty Todd`s delivery. Five minutes past before Keith Bray produced the first shot of the afternoon but his effort from 25 yards out was easily held by Ferrie. The home side seemed to be handling the conditions better and although not creating clear cut chances Dunfermline were relying heavily on their defence to contain them.
There was a distinct lack of goalmouth action until Terrell had to hold a Henry Fieldson header in 34th minute. Stewart was sent on a break that fed the ball wide right for Todd but his cross into the six yard box was headed clear by Murray. Then a clever run in from the right produced the 39th minute opener for Queen`s Park. It was Carlo Pignatiello`s pass that was back heeled into his path by Connolly that deceived the defence allowing FIELDSON to turn into the Pars net. The 20 year-old defender`s first ever goal for the Spiders made it 1-0.
Bray won a corner on the left in time added on but he had no luck as he drove the defended ball back at goal. Terrell held again before the teams went in after the three minutes of added time. The Fifers had nothing to show for a first half in which they had 44% possession but only two shots.

Within 30 seconds of the restart Fowler tormented the Pars defence getting McGregor in for a shot that thankfully went wide right. Queen`s Park were tested when a Fraser break picked out Tod and after making ground fired at goal. His effort was deflected for a corner on the left. When Todd sent that over the ball came out for Hamilton on the edge of the box his low attempt was deflected into the hands of the keeper.
A 57th minute free kick from the right was delivered by Connolly and Murray challenged for the ball. There was a block and a crucial save as it looked like the Spiders were about to double their lead. On the hour Iain Brunskill made a triple substitution, Alfons Amade, Barney Stewart and Keith Bray going off and coming on were Josh Cooper, Rory Macleod and Zak Rudden.
A Cooper corner dropped for Todd but his shot was blocked and then from a Queen`s corner Macleod broke up the right but his cross for Cooper, free in the middle, was intercepted. Andrew Tod drove a 72nd minute shot across goal and out left after Fraser had swung over a cross that several players tried to get to grips with first.

Next a Tod shot from the edge of the box was deflected for a corner on the left and this time Rudden met Cooper`s delivery but that effort was blocked. Dunfermline maintained the pressure with an 80th minute burst by Chilokoa-Mullen picking out Tod. He rounded the keeper but having been forced left Murray was able to slide in to concede just a corner. Todd took the 81st minute setpiece from the left and after the ball was flicked on by Chilokoa-Mullen, GILMOUR headed home the equaliser. 1-1
Tod fed Rudden a 88th minute chance, he connected well but the shot went wide right. There were five added minutes to be played. Sub Rocco Friel was shown yellow for a late challenge on Tod and the Fifers last chance was from a Cooper free kick but it was too high for Abdulai.
All square at the end and Dunfermline remained fifth, equal on points with Raith Rovers but with a better goal difference.
