Pre Season Friendly: two trialists start - the newly signed players. #14 (67) 1-0: Lewis McCann (90) 1-1:

Dunfermline headed north on Tuesday evening to play Cove Rangers in a pre-season friendly for the third consecutive season. Two Trialist started - the newly signed players Kieran Ngwenya and David Wotherspoon and there were three on the bench including the goalkeeper who played the second half against East Fife on Friday night.

Deniz Mehmet made the first save of the match beating away a shot from no.7 before the first opportunity for the visitors came in eight minutes. Craig Wighton picked out Kieran Ngwenya on the left and his cross found Aaron Comrie at the far post but his header dropped wide left.

The Pars forced a 17th minute corner after Sutherland and Wighton had shots blocked and David Wotherspoon`s corner from the left created a threat but Cove cleared. Sutherland made keeper Balint Demus hold a low shot in 24 minutes before he forced a corner this time on the right but Joe Chalmers corner was well defended. Chris Hamilton fired an effort that went wide right but Dunfermline had been in total control for the opening 25 minutes.

There was a five or six minute spell in which Cove enjoyed some possession without creating any threat and then it was back to the Pars attacking with Wotherspoon sending Comrie speeding up the right and crossing for Sutherland but he got tied up with a defender in the six yard box and didn`t get away a shot.

Comrie made another powerful run down the right before cutting in towards goal. He was blocked in a tackle but no free kick given. Then in 41 minutes Ngwenya hit the right upright after being set up by Sutherland. That was as close as it got to breaking the deadlock. Cove forced a corner on 45 minutes but Wighton was first to it and it was all square at the interval.

Half Time: Cove Rangers 0 Dunfermline 0

For the second half Cove Rangers made seven substitutions and Dunfermline introduced six - their sub keeper, two trialists, Lewis McCann, Kane Ritchie-Hosler and Michael O`Halloran. Deniz Mehmet, Kieran Ngwenya, Chris Hamilton, David Wotherspoon and Taylor Sutherland went off.

Wighton fired an early attempt over the Cove crossbar after a flick on by Ritchie-Hosler before in 12th minute of the second half Sam Fisher hit the left goalpost and Trialist #10 had no luck at all as his follow up was blocked.

Further subs followed for both sides before O`Halloran forced a corner that Chalmers played to Trialist #16 to smash on target from 27 yards out but the keeper held. It was Cove`s TRIALIST #14 who found the net in 67 minutes. A cross from the right converted from the edge of the box. 1-0

Dunfermline pressed up but Cove`s #24 tested the Pars keeper who had to save low at his right hand post. Pars Trialist #16 pinged a dangerous ball through the Cove box from a free kick deep down the right before McCann won a 79th minute corner on the right. That was defended but #16 was tumbled as he tried to get on the end of the loose ball and McCann thrashed the 30 yard out setplay on target but the keeper dropped to his left to hold.

The Fifers continued playing their passing game and in 90th minute got their reward when Trialist #10 crossed a great ball in from the left and McCANN scored with a special diving header.

No time for much more and yet again a 1-1 scoreline from Cove.
