Wednesday, 31st May 2023JM:- `There is a gap there but it`s not just a case of everyone who left needs to be replaced with a player.
The Dunfermline players have all commenced their individual programmes in the run up to the start of pre season but it is also the time of year when everyone is looking forward to seeing just who the manager can attract to the club.
After the departure of Nikolay Todorov, Kyle Macdonald and Kevin O`Hara along with the loan players who have returned to their clubs James McPake is hopeful of having more signings in the near future. He claims that is ongoing even though he will also slip in a family holiday:-
"We are continuing to work - the Premiership has just finished and there is still the playoffs to go - but we`re quite happy where we are. We needed to get people tied down, we need to get the spine - for want of a better phrase - of the squad sorted. We`re continuing to look and we`ll continue to do that.
"It`s important to get a break as well - but you don`t get a break on this side the way you do as a player. There`s plenty people here in terms of the recruitment side, the work is ongoing. It doesn`t change if I`m here or not."
A conundrum perhaps might just be the number of players being sought after. The manager has many answers but even he has no definitive number in mind. He added:-
"It`s not trying to just avoid a question, but it`s important that we assess what we had. We had the three that left, the loan players as well. There is a gap there but it`s not just a case of everyone who left needs to be replaced with a player. We`ve got certain targets in mind and we`ve been working on them. In terms of numbers, we don`t know."
