News | Kane ready to go again
Sunday, 19th Feb 2023KRH: - `It is the next game that is important now and we go into that full of confidence.`
Saturday`s start against Airdrieonians was just the third start for Kane Ritchie-Hosler since joining Dunfermline Athletic on loan from Rangers at the end of September. The 20 year old was an unused sub the previous Saturday at the Excelsior Stadium so he was fresh to encounters against the Diamonds and he described how he felt the match had gone:-
`We all dug in deep, everyone worked hard and worked well together, we had chances but we were just unlucky. It was a bit frustrating obviously not to pick up all the three points. It was just one of those afternoons to be honest.`
Saturday`s match had a certain deja vu about it with Airdrie ahead at half time, getting a man sent off and Kyle Benedictus with a penalty kick to try and snatch it. Kane had sympathy for his captain whose 84th minute setpiece was saved by substitute keeper David Hutton:-
`Kyle has done brilliantly from penalties all season, it is just one of them but we will bounce back from it.`
The 1-1 draw continued the Pars undefeated home record this season, a run that now extends to 14 matches. Kane believes that has a positive impact on team spirit:-
`I think that we have shown throughout the season that we can come back from being down. We don`t give up. That unbeaten home record is very good. We want to try and get results, we have to keep pushing. It is the next game that is important now and we go into that full of confidence.`
Kane started the match in midfield but when Lewis McCann came on ten minutes into the second half Kane took over a position on the right wing vacated after Robbie Mahon was substituted. That did not phase the Mancunian who added:-
`I have played there a couple of times but I`m versatile. Even at Rangers sometimes I played at full back. It is still a bit new but I enjoy being out there. Wherever I get to play I will play and try and do my best for the team.`
It was Kane`s first start since Christmas Eve at New Central Park, Kelty, it was his first full 90 minutes and he confessed to being pleasantly surprised at getting the nod:-
`I just keep working hard in training. I`m thankful that the gaffer has given me a chance to start. Hopefully I have taken my chance and we will see what happens next game.`
