A former Norwegian Under 21 international, Vetle Andersen arrived at East End Park in October 1987 after spending two seasons with German club Blau-Weiss Berlin.

A former Norwegian Under 21 international, Vetle Andersen arrived at East End Park in October 1987 after spending two seasons with German club Blau-Weiss Berlin. His mother was a Scot born in Greenock and Vetle had lived in Inverness for two years when he was very young.

Initially the 23 year old looked completely bewildered by the pace and intensity of Scottish football but before long he was playing with confidence and composure, usually in midfield though Vetle himself preferred the left back position.

Freed at the end of the season after sixteen appearances Vetle spent the next eight years plying his trade for several Scandinavian clubs, the only exception being a three week spell in late 1989 when he had atrial at West Bromich Albion.

In October 1996 he returned to Scotland, signed by Raith Rovers manager Iain Munro after impressing on trial. Ironically he lost his place to another Scandinavian following a 5-1 hammering by Motherwell which cost Munro his job.

Relegated from the Premier Division for a second time, Vetle was released by new manager Jimmy Nicholl and picked up by Third Division champions Caley Thistle. He made forty appearances for the club in 1997/98 before finishing his career back in Scandinavia.
