Alex Burke

Debut: 09/02/08 v Hamilton Accies
Contracted until: 31st May 2010

Former Kilmarnock team mate, Alex Burke was brought in by Jim McIntyre on a loan deal from St Mirren. The 30 year old left sided midfielder joined until the end of the 2007-08 season and was subsequently signed on a two year deal. The Dunfermline Player Manager described his man:-

"He is a good player, I played with him at Kilmarnock and so I know what he can do. We are short on the left side and Burkie fits the bill. He is very direct, he is an attacking player."

Alex has played for several Scottish clubs since leaving Kilmarnock after five years to join Falkirk in October 2000. Since then he has had spells at Clydebank, Berwick Rangers, Queen of the South and Ross County. He has been at St Mirren since beginning of season before last and has made 25 appearances for the Buddies, the most recent on 26th January against Rangers at Ibrox.

Speaking at lunchtime Alex revealed that he was interested straight away when he heard that Jim McIntyre had phoned St Mirren about him. A quick check with former Par, John Potter, one of four ex Athletic players at the Paisley club, confirmed that it would be a good move. Alex, who is out of contract with the SPL club at the end of this season, said that made his decision all the easier and he is hopeful that it might lead to a contract with the Fifers.

Delighted to be re-united with Jim McIntyre, Alex said of his new Manager:-

"Jim is a winner, a good football player who sets high standards for himself. He is fit and makes demands."
