Allan Moore was an elusive and effective winger whose potential emerged at Dumbarton. Hearts signed him for £80,000 in November 1986 but was never able to break into the team and moved to St Johnstone in 1989.

Alex Totten and Bert Paton had managed at Dumbarton and under their influence he became a key member of the Saints side which lifted the First Division championship in 1990. He also made an impact at the top level before injuries increasingly kept him on the sidelines.

One person prepared to take a chance on him was Bert Paton who unexpectedly brought the 29 year old to Dunfermline in March 1994 in exchange for Allan Preston.

On regaining full fitness he became a crowd favourite, displaying some of the best form of his career during the promotion winning 1995/96 season.

After 117 appearances and 13 goals `˜Moorey` left the Pars in March 1998 playing briefly for Livingston before joining Airdrie, Partick Thistle, Morton and Queen of the South with whom he scored twice in twelve appearances after signing in December 2001.

His managerial career began in 2002 with Stirling Albion and continued at Morton and Arbroath prior to becoming assistant to Danny Lennon at Clyde.
