Goalkeeper Sean joined Dunfermline Athletic full time in the summer of 2003. Sean, Edinburgh born and bred, joined our Youth Initiative programme from Hearts Youths playing for a year and a half at Under 15 and 16 levels. He had an excellent season in 2002-03 playing regularly for the Under 19s and 21s and was even called up to the 1st Team squad - featuring on the bench versus Celtic. He was recognised at International level too, playing for Scottish Schoolboys.
Since joining from Hearts, the Pars have been very pleased with Sean`s all-round progress. He`s a tall lad and has a good build for a goalkeeper. If anything, he still needs to fill out a bit more, particularly up top, and so we have worked on developing a concentrated fitness programme.
With the arrival of Allan McGregor and Bryn Halliwell, Sean was loaned out for the 2005-06 season to Forfar Athletic. He won his way into the team and made 13 starts, achieving four shut outs. Signed a new contract with the Pars in July 2006 before returning to Forfar on loan for the first half of season 2006-07.
Returned from Forfar having played another 18 games for them and went out on loan to Hamilton Academical in February 2007 where he played 11 matches for them in the Scottish First Division.
Murdoch made his first team debut for Dunfermline in the UEFA cup tie against Swedish club, BK Hacken when he came on in the tenth minute to take over from the injured Roddy McKenzie.
He was then to become second choice behind Paul Gallacher for most of the 2007`“08 season and left to join Hamilton for a nominal fee of £15,000 for season 2008-09
