Scott joined Aberdeen from Neilston Thistle Boys Club in 2001. His four year spell with the Dons was under three different managers. He made 78 appearances for Aberdeen, scoring two goals.

Signed for Dunfermline near the end of the transfer window in January 2006. May be used as a left sided midfielder, although he did have a successful role at full back in season 2006-07.  Cup finalist in 2007. An accurate crosser of the ball and a player who is willing to play in a wing back role, Scott was out injured for most of season 2007-8 and got only 10 starts in season 2008-09.  He became a bit of an off the bench specialist with 14 appearances as sub in season 2008-09. The following season was his last, making just 4 starts and 6 appearances off the bench.
