Played for North Berwick Colts from the age 6 to 13 where Dave Miller was his greatest influence. Grant had a brief spell at Heart of Midlothian FC before signing for Hibs at U15 level.

He signed for Aberdeen for a season at U16 level before coming to Dunfermline Athletic FC at the start of the 2009 season. Grant was promoted to U19s on a full time contract in the summer of 2010. Signed a professional contract in May 2012 but after making just one start and two appearances off the bench Grant was released at the end of the 2012-13 season.
