Born: Dundee, 27th February 1970
Previous club: Forfar Athletic
Stewart made his debut for Dunfermline at East End Park on 28th August 1993 against Airdrie, having signed from Forfar the day before for a fee of £70,000.
Although signed by Bert Paton as a striker, it took Stewart 20 games to get on the scoresheets. He came into his own over the next two seasons , scoring 21 and 16 respectively, and most importantly scoring the winner against Dundee United that brought Dunfermline the First Division title in 1996.
Stewart was converted to a left sided midfielder and although the goals dried up, he was a regular in Dunfermline`s SPL teams. His combative style and ability to put in telling crosses made him a fans` favourite and he was awarded a Testimonial in 2003 before going to Australia for a spell.
Stewart made 296 appearance for Dunfermline, the 18th highest in the club`s history, and is also one of the small number to score more than 50 goals for the club.
