Teams | Greg Shaw
Manager Bert Paton paid £25,000 for Greg who went on to score 14 goals in 48 appearances, 19 of which were as a substitute.
Signed by Ayr United from Dalbeattie Star in November 1988, Greg established himself in the first team in season 1991/92 and scored 14 goals in 69 appearances for the club before being signed by Falkirk in December 1962.
He helped Falkirk win both the First Division championship and the B&Q Cup on 1993/94 but played only three times in the Premier League after torn ligaments in his back kept him out for three months.
Greg scored for Falkirk in a 1-1 draw at East End Park in March 1994. It proved crucial as Falkirk pipped the Pars to the title by one point.
It was something of a surprise when Dunfermline signed him in March 1995 but he was to prove his worth the following season after new signing Andy Smith broke a leg in a pre season match. He led the line well, scoring eight goals in 14 matches but was injured by the time Andy returned and had to make do with a place on the bench as the Pars went on to win promotion.
Early on 1996/97 Greg suffered an Achilles` tendon injury, which sidelined him for the rest of the season, effectively ending his career at East End Park.
Kept on until until he fully recovered, he was released in November 1997 and played briefly for Airdrie and Clydebank before joining Paul Smith`s Berwick Rangers where he took up a coaching position.
