Bobby wrote his name in the record books with 53 goals as the Pars lifted the Second Division title in 1925/26.

Bobby Skinner has already played for Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Morton by the time he joined Dunfermline in February 1924. A bustling and fearless centre forward with a ferocious shot, he instantly became a favourite of the fans but a disagreement over his share of the transfer fee and demand to be paid during the summer led to his transfer to Ayr United for £150.

Despite scoring eight goals in 14 matches for Ayr, including a hat trick against Hearts, Bobby couldn`t settle at Somerset Park so the Dunfermline board rectified its mistake by re-signing him for a bargain £75.

He finally fulfilled his potential by netting 22 goals that season and then wrote his name in the record books with 53 more as the Pars lifted the Second Division title in 1925/26.

The following season he almost single-handedly kept the club in the First Division but, with Athletic in a precarious position both on and off the field, he was sold to Airdrie in November 1927 for £2500.

Bobby broke his right leg in his first match for the Diamonds but fortunately recovered to play a further three seasons, finishing with a very creditable 193 goals in 259 appearances in Scottish football.

Bobby was the first Dunfermline player to be capped by the Scottish League, scoring in a 2-1 win over the Irish League in Belfast in October 1927.

Only Charlie Dickson has scored more often for the Pars but not even he could match Bobby`s ratio of 120 goals in 127 appearances.
