Jim Leishman moved to strengthen his side before the transfer deadline in March 1986 and Gary was signed for a fee of £5000.

Glasgow-born, Gary first played with Benburb Juniors before signing for Morton in 1977. He moved to Falkirk where he was a part of their championship-winning side, then spent three years at Alloa where he also enjoyed winning promotion.

Jim Leishman moved to strengthen his side before the transfer deadline in March 1986 and Gary was signed for a fee of £5000. He could play as full back, in midfield, or up front, but it was his rugged combative style that provided bite to the Pars side.

Although he made a much bigger contribution to the team that won promotion to the Premier League in 1986/87 (playing in virtually every game), he did play the final eight games of 1985/86 and scored two vital goals in the process.

He moved on to St Johnstone in 1987.
