Joined Dunfermline for the 2003-04 season from Aberdeen where he had scored 5 goals in 155 games.
Signed for Aberdeen on last day of February 1996 and made his senior debut at the age of 17 - 25th August 1996 - Aberdeen v Hearts. Under 21 caps rewarded his first team performances but a knee injury the following season sidelined him.
Three operations later it was spring of 2000 before Darren re-established himself in the Dons team. He played in European competition against Bohemians, Nistru Otaci and Hertha Berlin.
Captained the Dons in season 2001-2002 when they finished 4th in the SPL. His leadership qualities attracted Jimmy Calderwood who admires the "engine" that drives Darren at full steam throughout a match.
He packs a powerful shot and has scored some important goals, especially from the penalty spot. Season 2006-07 saw Darren for the first time, not having brother Derek at the same club. Injury restricted his appearances in the latter half of season 2006-07.
As at 01/07/07: 131 appearances for Dunfermline, 11 goals
Left Dunfermline Season 2007-2008 and signed for Dundee.
