A Scottish Cup finalist with East Fife in 1927, George Paterson was a strong, forceful player who made the inside right position his own during five seasons with the Pars. He was also something of a talisman, the club losing only six league matches in which he found the net.

The only man to play in all three of the pre-war Scottish League matches in which Dunfermline hit double figures, `Pashie` also holds the distinction of scoring hat-tricks in each of them. Dunfermline`s top scorer when promotion was clinched in 1933/34 and an ever-present for two seasons, George was ruthlessly axed as the club prepared to bring in new players for the First Division.

His excellent scoring record places him 12th in the Pars all-time list.
