Halliwell was signed at the start of the 2005/06 season from Clyde where he had made over 150 appearances. The Pars signed Allan MacGregor on loan from Rangers early in the season which pushed Halliwell into reserve keeper position and he mainly played against Rangers later in the season as they refused to let MacGregor face them.
Halliwell picked up a losers medal as an unused substitute in the 2006 League Cup final defeat to Celtic. He had kept a clean sheet in the early rounds of the competition away at Gretna. At the end of the season he moved on to St Johnstone. He became goalkeeping coach at Caledonian Braves.
