Signed in the summer of 1948, Gerry made what many believed to be an overdue debut on 9th October, scoring the opener in a 3-2 League Cup win over Cowdenbeath at East End Park.

A good all-round striker, Gerry`s ball skills and ability to swing over an accurate cross meant he was initially used as a winger but his keen eye for goal saw him converted to centre-forward.

In 1951/52 he was the club`s top scorer with 28 goals but incredibly he was then handed a free transfer as part of a clear out. He went on to show just what a mistake Dunfermline made by spending seven years with Kilmarnock, achieving a tremendous scoring return and making two cup final appearances.

Died 21 March 2006.
