Logie made the unlikely move from Lochore Welfare to Arsenal in June 1939 but was called up when war was declared and joined the Royal Navy. Posted to Rosyth, he played for St. Bernard`s and Dunfermline where his brilliant dribbling and exquisite passing ability illuminated some otherwise dark days.

He went on to make 328 appearances for Arsenal, winning the League Championship twice and the FA Cup in 1950, though it was a matter of bemusement and regret to his many admirers that he was awarded only one Scotland cap.

Died 30 April 1984, London.
