Signed from juvenile side Bowhill Star, Wattie Innes played a minor role in the club`s 1925/26 Second Division title success before spending the following season on loan at Lochgelly United. He went on to produce many fine performances for the Pars, his trickery, powerful shooting and accurate crossing attracting interest from top-flight clubs.
Ironically, he left in 1928 for the better money on offer at Rhyl Athletic but returned a few months later to give Dunfermline a couple more seasons of good service. More consistent than many wingers of the era, Wattie was just as effective at inside-forward.
