Initially regarded as a temporary solution to the team`s defensive frailties, the experienced Harry Colville went on to demonstrate his long-term value during nearly four years with the Pars.
A centre-half of the old school, Harry was uncompromising in the tackle and commanding in the air. Handed the captaincy, he gave the Pars defence the physical presence it desperately needed and he started every league and cup match until a knee injury against Stirling Albion on 19 December 1959 ended his remarkable run of 171 consecutive appearances.
He played for Falkirk, Raith Rovers, Chester and Dunfermline Athletic. After retiring as a player in 1960, Colville managed Cowdenbeath from then until 1964.
