Derek McWilliams began his career with Hibernian and then Dundee, but it was with Falkirk that he established himself as a hard-working midfielder and a key member of their team. He made 133 appearances for the Bairns and scored 44 times.
He moved from Falkirk to Dunfermline in August 1991 in return for Paul Smith, Ian Westwater and a fee. Having scored from the controversial 88th minute penalty in the semi final against Airdrie, he had a starting place in the 1991 League Cup Final against Hibs. He moved from Dunfermline to Partick Thistle in 1994.
Derek went on to coach Livingston U20s and at Broxburn Athletic.
