It was a sign of Dunfermline`s standing at the time that the club were able to lure Scott Wilson to East End Park in August 2002 in the face of interest from bigger clubs.
He had already played nearly 80 first team games for Rangers. Scott was a class defender whose timely tackles and aerial ability secured many wins for the Pars under pressure.
He won a Scotland B cap in 2004, but many thought he was worth more.
A tough and composed central defender who joined Rangers in July 1993 from the Ibrox club`s youth team. Scott played in the Champions League at the age of 19 and became an under 21 internationalist.
Accordingly the hard tackling centre-back always provided valuable cover for Rangers and Scott made 78 appearances for the Govan club before going to Portsmouth at the end of the 2001-02 season.
Nicknamed "Dinger" from his days at Ibrox, he looked set for a move to England but in August 2002, Scott signed for the Pars. Similar to Barry Nicholson in that he made the decision to leave Rangers for a chance of first team action at Dunfermline. After joining the Pars he won his way into Berti Vogt`s Scotland Future`s team and there were some very very high hopes for his future.
Missed out on the 2004 Scottish Cup final because of appendicitis. Scored the goal that knocked the holders, Hearts out of the 2006-07 Scottish Cup. Signed a two year contract in 2007 before the team was relegated. Appointed Club Captain in 2008. Left in May 2009 to take up a new challenge with Ian Ferguson`s North Queensland Fury FC.
