One of The Pars major players. Originally on the books of Dundee United as a youth. Began his senior career with Forfar Athletic in 1989. Played over 120 games and scored well over 30 goals for The Loons. He left to join The Pars in season 1993/9

Bert Paton brought 23 year-old Stewart Petrie to East End Park from Forfar Athletic in August 1993. Although it took him some time to settle, Petrie became a fans` favourite with his quick, direct style, whether playing through the middle or down the left wing.

He also contributed his fair share of goals, the most important being the only goal in a match against Dundee United at Tannadice on 27 April 1996 which put the Pars in pole position in the race for promotion to the Premier Division. Having been sent off later in that match, Petrie was not available for the final match of the season when the team beat Airdrie 2-1 at home to clinch the title by four points from United.

Stewart spent ten years at East End Park during which he made 268 appearances and scored 50 goals and he was granted a testimonial in January 2003. He then spent four and a half years pursuing his career in Australia and Singapore before returning to Scotland where Dick Campbell signed him for Ross County for the 2007-08 season.

After a spell as assistant manager to Paul Sheerin at Arbroath Stewart returned to Australia in 2010 as assistant coach to ex-Par Ian Ferguson at North Queensland Fury. Unfortunately, this new franchise experienced financial problems and Stewart was forced to return to Scotland where he resumed his role as assistant manager at Arbroath in 2011.

Stewart made 296 appearance for Dunfermline, the 18th highest in the club`s history, and is also one of the small number to score more than 50 goals for the club.
