Lee Bullen was a Dunfermline youth player who left aged 18 but re-joined in 1999 aged 28. He then had five seasons at the club where he was a versatile back, midfielder, and on occasions a striker. He was particularly good in the air. A member of the Scottish Cup Final side, he left in 2004 to join Sheffield Wednesday.
Lee Bullen was born in Edinburgh and was a member of the Dunfermline youth squad that won the BP Youth Cup in 1988. Returned to play for Dunfermline 2000 - 2004 making 151 appearances and scoring 24 goals.
Bullen started his career at Meadowbank Thistle, initially as a striker. He is known as an experienced and versatile footballer, having converted to a defender mid-way through his career and having plied his trade all over the world, from Scotland and Greece to Australia and Hong Kong.
He played for Golden and South China as a striker in Hong Kong Football League in mid-1990s.
After seven years abroad Lee rejoined Dunfermline at the age of 28 in February 2000 during Jimmy Calderwood`s management and spent five years at the club.
Calderwood converted Lee from a striker to an attacking right back but his striking instincts never deserted him as he scored 24 goals in 151 appearances, the best probably being a memorable back-post volley against Hearts in a 3-1 win at East End Park in November 2002. Not the most technically gifted player, Lee`s wholehearted attitude endeared him to the fans. His final game for the club was the 2004 Scottish Cup Final defeat to Celtic, although his appearance was from the substitutes` bench.
After leaving the Pars on a free transfer in the summer of 2004 Lee joined Sheffield Wednesday where he was also a fans` favourite, playing in all eleven positions for the club, helping them win the League 1 play-off final in 2005 and holding the club captaincy. After leaving them in 2008 he had a spell at Falkirk as a player and a coach before returning to Wednesday as a youth coach in October 2011. Lee`s autobiography `No Bull` was published in September 2013.
In 2022 he left Sheffield Wednesday to become the manager of Ayr United.
