Steven Hampshire began his career at Chelsea but made only one substitute appearance. He was loaned to Dunfermline Athletic and then signed permanently in 2000. He played as a striker and wide player for three seasons at East End Park. In the summer of 20
Steven first came to East End Park in October 1999 on loan from Chelsea where he had made only one first-team appearance. A wide player who could also play through the middle, he scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw at Inverness on 31 October 1999.
Having been brought to the club initially by Dick Campbell, he was given a permanent deal by Jimmy Calderwood in January 2000 and was part of the squad which established the club in the SPL until he was released in August 2003.
Although he made 93 appearances and scored 10 goals for the club he was never able to secure a regular place in the team and 43 of his appearances were from the bench.
After leaving the Pars Steven went part-time with Dick Campbell`s Brechin City, helping them to the Second Division in 2004/05 and winning the Second Division Player of the Year Award for that season. After four seasons there he joined Stenhousemuir for two seasons but retired in 2009 at the age of 30 to pursue his business interests.
