Stevie Morrison was a most popular player with the fans at East End Park. Much of this was due to his exceptionally powerful shooting particularly at dead ball situations from which he scored several spectacular goals with dipping, swerving shots.
`Snowy`was signed for Dunfermline by Pat Stanton in 1981 for a fee of £7000 from Aberdeen. At that time he was showing promise as an outstanding striker but after moving to Dunfermline he played most of his football in midfield, although he remained a free kick specialist.
Stevie`s career started with St Mirren Boys Club and he was signed for St Mirren by Alex Ferguson. Stevie followed Sir Alex when the former Pars player moved to the manager`s seat at Aberdeen and he spent three years at Pittodrie.
Stevie credited Alex Ferguson with helping his career claiming only his father having been a bigger influence. Stevie reverted top part time football on signing for Dunfermline but he was one of the first players to turn full-time when the Athletic offered the opportunity during the 1986-1987 season with his form duly improving.
An important member of Jim Leishman`s team that moved up the divisions, he had scored 48 goals in 277 Pars appearances before he moved to Hamilton Accies in 1989.
