Sol Bamba signed for Dunfermline in July 2006 after signing a 2 year contract following his refusal to renew his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
His first season saw him appearing in the Scottish Cup final and being relegated with the Pars. He signed a two year extension to his contract in 2007 before leaving the club for £50K to Hibernian on 1st September 2008.
A powerful and athletic centre half, Sol was with Paris St Germain from the age of 14 and he starred in the Youth and B teams, but was not able to establish a regular place in the senior squad. Impressed after a trial period and was rewarded with a two year contract. He has played international football at youth level for his parents homeland, Ivory Coast.
The 6` 3" defender played for the "Baby Elephants of Cote d`Ivoire" in the 2005 African Youth Championship and represented his country at the Beijing Olympics.
Sol Bamba made 46 appearances for Ivory Coast, scoring one goal. After his retirement in 2022, Bamba switched to coaching and took up the role of an assistant manager for his former club Cardiff, before moving to Adanaspor in Turkey as their Technical Director.
