Scully joined the club on loan from Partick Thistle in June 2013 on a six month loan deal, his form saw this extended to the end of the season and he was awarded the clubs player of the year. He was rewarded with a new 2 year contract at Partick and again loaned out the Pars for the 2014/15 season.
He initially joined Dunfermline in July 2013 on a six month loan from Partick Thistle. The goalkeeper had been at Firhill from the age of 15 having done two years as a trainee before securing a professional contract.
Ryan played against Dunfermline in November 2012 when he came on as a sub for the injured Scott Fox at Firhill with 20 minutes remaining.
Eventually his six months at Dunfermline became an all season loan, he returned on a further season long loan deal in 2014-15. When he left at the end of that season he left with just about every Player of the Year award available to him.
When Ryan returned to Thistle but after just 25 appearances over three seasons he left and was signed by Ray McKinnon at Morton. By January Jonatan Johannson had decided that Ryan Scully could leave and so the 26 year old keeper arrived once more at East End Park.
On 24 January 2019 Ryan Scully returned to Dunfermline in the search for first team football. He was handed squad number 40 and was the total number of starts that he had made in the 50 month period since leaving Dunfermline in April 2015.
