Gallacher initially joined the club on loan from Norwich City. His contract with Norwich was mutually terminated and he signed on full time for 18 months. He left the club in 2009 to join St Mirren and play premier league football.

He rejoined in 2011 signing a 2 year deal and moved to Partick at the end of that deal. He played 135 times for the club.

Dunfermline Athletic were delighted in June 2011 when goalkeeper Paul Gallacher agreed to return to the Club on a two year deal. Paul who had spent the previous two seasons at St Mirren joined Dunfermline for a second time at the age of 31. Paul has enjoyed a very successful goalkeeping career having played with Dundee United, Norwich, St Mirren and of course Dunfermline.

Paul was two seasons at East End Park until he left to join St Mirren for season 2009-10. He has enjoyed a very successful goalkeeping career. Recognised from a very early age as a good prospect , Paul got his first taste of first team football when he was loaned out by his then club, Dundee United to Airdrie in 1999. He subsequently became United`s first choice goalkeeper and remained so until he signed for Norwich City in June 2004. During that period he won Scotland U21, B international and full Scotland caps. In total he has eight Scotland caps, the last against Estonia on 27th May 2004.

Paul Gallacher moved from Dundee United to Norwich City on a free transfer in 2004. He waited almost two seasons to make his debut, as Robert Green filled the `keeper`s spot and had to be content with loan spells at Gillingham and Sheffield Wednesday. He got a start under Nigel Worthington and made a total of 36 appearances but when he left the club, new boss Peter Grant then brought in four other keepers to contest the number one shirt and Gallacher endured a difficult season.

With David Marshall and Matthew Gilks signed during the summer, it looked like he was not going to get much of an opportunity so with one year left on his Norwich City contract he was happy to join Dunfermline on a loan deal until January 2008. Had a marvellous season in 2007-2008 culminating in him winning the Player of the Year trophy.

Left when made redundant by Interim Administrators in March 2013 and joined Ross County.

Dunfermline starts 135; shut outs 39.
