In June 2021 Dunfermline signed 24 year old Nikolay Todorov on a two year deal.

Nikolay scored 17 times for Dunfermline during his two seasons with the club. He was often used as an impact sub, coming on and scoring important goals this season against Kelty Hearts, Airdrieonians and Queen of the South, among others. He came on as a substitute in 35 of his 63 appearances.

The Bulgarian striker was well known as an opponent having played at East End Park for Livingston, Queen of the South, Falkirk and Inverness Caley Thistle, he also scored the opening goal of the 2020-2021 Championship season against the Pars.

Nikolay had a physical presence and good in either box in defence or attack. a powerful player and very good in the air and good with both feet.

Nickolay was born on 24th August 1998, in Plevan, Bulgaria. He started playing football, at Spartak in his home town of Pleven, 100 miles north east of the capital Sofia. Todorov has represented Bulgaria at U15, U16 and U21 level.

At the age of 13 he was awarded a scholarship at Brook House College in England. He signed youth forms with Nottingham Forest Academy and full forms at the beginning of season 2015/16. During the season he played on loan for Worcester City and Hemel Hempstead, but moved to Hearts at the start of the following season. Nickolay did not break into the Hearts first team but did so on loan with Cowdenbeath and Livingston winning the League One championship with Livi in 2016-17.

For the first half of the 2017-18 season he was back on loan at Livingston, before spending the second half of the season at Queen of the South.

In August 2018, Todorov signed a two-year contract with Italian Serie C club Rieti but returned to Scottish football five months and 20 appearances later to sign for Falkirk. When the Bairns were relegated Nikolay joined Inverness Caley Thistle where he spent two seasons. He played in 32 of Inverness Caley`s 34 matches in season 2020-2021, starting 21 and scoring eleven goals.

His contract at Dunfermline was not renewed in 2023 and his next port of call was Airdrieonians. In August of 2024, Nickolay made another move, this time to Hamilton Accies, where he joined up with fellow former Pars striker, Kevin O`Hara.

His father also called Nikolay Todorov (born 1964), was also a professional footballer and played for the national team of Bulgaria.
