He returned to Scotland in November 2011 and was signed to a short term contract with United in January 2012, and went on to appear a number of times for the Under 19 and Youth teams before his contract was extended at the start of the 2012-13 season.

After playing most of the season of the Under 20s, Luke was called up to the first team squad towards the end of the season, where he was named as an unused substitute in the home games against Aberdeen and Motherell in April, before coming off the bench against Ross County in Dingwall to make his first team debut.

The following week he made his first appearance in the starting eleven as the side narrowly lost out 1-0 to St Johnstone, and three days later he signed an extension to his contract, keeping him at Tannadice for an extra year.

Made six appearances and scored one goal before returning to United and then going out on loan to Montrose for the remainder of season 2013-2014.
