Liam Buchanan joined Dunfermline from Partick Thistle on 21st January 2011. Even though the Pars top goalscorers in the league, Jim McIntyre felt it was still important to add to his strike force even when they were doing well:-
"He is a striker and always done well against us; he is a player that I have always admired so when the chance came to get him we were delighted to do so.
"He is small, good with his back to goal and his movement in the box is very good because of his low centre of gravity. He can hold defenders so compliments what we have here because we have good strikers here."
Liam scored 40 goals for Thistle, three of those in 2011. He made his Pars debut against Partick Thistle on Saturday 29th January but then missed out on Dunfermline`s game at Aberdeen since he was cup tied with Partick Thistle.
Buchanan assisted the club clinch that seasons league title. He was part of the squad that was immediately relegated the following season and declined to extend his contract in August of 2012 and opted to sign for Sligo Rovers.
He scored 11 times in 48 appearances.
