Kyle Macdonald
Date of Birth: 11-01-2000
Position: Defender
Joined: 14-01-2021
Appearances: 36
Substitute Appearances: 18
Goals: 2
Nationality: Scottish
Previous Clubs: Motherwell, Airdrieonians
Subsequent Clubs:
Kyle made 54 appearances, including 18 off the bench. He scored two goals, one at Arbroath in the SPFL Trust Trophy and the other against Partick Thistle in the League Cup.
Signed on a two and a half years deal from Airdrieonians on 14th January 2021. Released at the end of the 2022-2023 League One title winning season.
Brought up in East Kilbride, Kyle started his football at the Scotland club in Hamilton before being invited to join Motherwell at under 10 level.
He joined Airdrieonians in July 2019 and made 29 appearances in his first season, 28 of those in the starting eleven. The following season he had been almost ever present, starting 12 of a possible 15 Airdrie games by the time he signed for Dunfermline in January 2021.
Kyle was to return to Airdrie on loan, for the rest of the 2020-2021 season, once the SPFL League 1 temporary suspension was lifted.
He had started 17 Dunfermline games and been used as a substitute in three when he was loaned back to Airdrieonians in January 2022. His loan was until the end of season 2021-2022 after which he returned to Dunfermline.
Kyle made 19 starts and 15 appearances off the bench during his final season under James McPake. A hard working self motivated athletic player, he was deployed at right back, right wing back and right midfield. Kyle`s strength was to get in crosses but he never really nailed down a starting place that he could call his own.
