Released by East Fife, Jimmy Rarity established himself as a first-team regular at East End Park over the next four years and was an ever-present in the successful 1933/34 season. A hard-working and clever player who was popular with the fans, Jimmy never got the chance to prove himself in the First Division because of injury and the arrival of players with top-flight experience. Allowed to join King`s Park, he returned to Dunfermline in 1935/36 to assist the reserve team which was playing in the East of Scotland League. He made 138 first team appearances for the Pars, scoring 6 goals.
