Vastly experienced full back, having amassed 73 International caps from Northern Ireland (although born in Canada). He was signed for Dunfermline from Rangers in 1989 and left in 1990 to become player/manager at Raith Rovers. He went on to manage several club teams (including a spell as Assistant Manager of Dunfermline) as well as Northern ireland.
He made 247 appearances for Manchester United between 1975 and 1981, before playing three seasons with the Toronto Blizzard in the NASL, leading the team to two Soccer Bowl appearances.
He also enjoyed success at Glasgow Rangers, where he won three Scottish League Cups and a League title.
He also spent time at Sunderland, and West Bromwich Albion, prior to joining the Pars where he made 24 appearances in 1989-90 before leaving to become player-manager at Raith Rovers
Internationally, he made 73 appearances for Northern Ireland, including in the 1982 and 1986 World Cup Finals. As a manager, Jimmy was an assistant with Northern Ireland from 1990-93, after being a player-manager at Raith Rovers.
He also managed at Milwall before becoming Dick Campbell` assistant at Dunfermline. When Jimmy Calderwood arrived in 1999 the Two Jimmies struck up a great partnership and after the 2004 Scottish Cup Final the pairing took on the role at Aberdeen, and subsequently Kilmarnock.
For season 2010-11 he went back out as number one to manage Scottish First Division Cowdenbeath. In 2015 Jimmy was named as assistant manager to Northern Ireland boss Michael O`Neill.
