Perhaps Jimmy`s claim to fame is that he was playing in goal for Partick Thistle in a Southern League game on 27th October 1945 at Firhill, when a penalty was awarded. The referee then ordered Kilmarnock to retake the same penalty six times. Jimmy Steadward saved the seventh effort and the Jags won 5-3.
