The young Englishman did enough to earn a full contract and at first he was a regular in the team. He scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw at Tannadice on 23 September 1998 and followed this up with the Pars` goal in a 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen on 7 November 1998.
After the club was relegated from the Premier Division at the end of the 1998/99 season Squires was placed on the transfer list. He made no appearances in 1999/2000 and was released by Jimmy Calderwood at the end of that season having played in 26 games and scored 2 goals. He joined Carlisle United and then Doncaster Rovers before moving to non-League Nuneaton in 2002.
