Greg Paterson joined in the summer of 2005 following spells with Cairneyhill Boys Club, Inverkeithing United and Dunfermline Under 12`s. He then moved to Rangers at the of 13, under Malcolm Thomson, until half way through Under 15 level before joining the Pars.

Capped nine times for Scotland at U16 level and to date eight times at Under 17 level.

Regular start in the Under 19`s team in 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08. When Dunfermline`s first choice keeper, Allan McGregor, unable to play in matches versus his club, Rangers, Greg was on the bench for the SPL match at East End Park on Boxing Day 2005 and if Greg had been required he would have become the youngest ever to play for Dunfermline in the SPL. He came close to an Ibrox debut in November 2006 when Roddy McKenzie played on through an injury picked up after just 14 minutes.

With Paul Gallacher and Sean Murdoch ahead of him in 2007-08 Greg was not in the first team squad as much. In 2008-09 Paul Gallacher and Callum Reidford were ahead of him in the pecking order.

Out most of season 2008-09 with a wrist and then a back injury he was number two to Greg Fleming for 2009-10. Made his first team debut on 19th December 2009 v Inverness Caley Thistle and achieved a creditable shut out.

Just when Greg had made it into the first team he broke his leg in the home match against Dundee on Tuesday 30th March 2010. Released at the end of 2010-11 season.
