A tall striker with a good touch, Colin Nish joined the Pars as a 16 year-old in 1997. Despite being a prolific scorer in the reserves, his development was hindered as the club switched the emphasis from investing in youth to buying experience under manager Jimmy Calderwood.

During 6 years at the club Nish made only 24 appearances, all but 2 of them from the bench and he spent much of his time at East End Park on loan at Alloa and Clyde.

His first appearance as a substitute was in a 3-0 home defeat to Rangers on 7 February 1999 but he had to wait until 28 April 2002 to make his starting debut in a 4-1 defeat at Livingston.

After leaving the club in 2003, without ever finding the net, Nish had a successful career, firstly at Kilmarnock then at his boyhood heroes, Hibs, where he scored a first-half hat-trick in the remarkable 6-6 draw at Motherwell on 5 May 2010 which was the highest-scoring game in the Scottish Premier Division.

He left Hibs in 2011 to join Hartlepool United where he spent two seasons, latterly on loan at Dundee. He then joined Dumbarton but left in January 2015 to join Cowdenbeath.
