Chris was a winger but often deputised at full back who many people had high hopes when he broke into the first team at East End Park as a skinny youngster but unfortunately it seems that he failed to fulfil his potential. He made the Scotland under 21 squad once for a match against Belgium but it seems like it may have been a token selection because the game was at East End Park. Chris made his Pars debut in the 1998-99 season and was a player who could get the support off the edge of their side with his tricky wing play and he remained a Pars player until 2004 before signing for St.Mirren after a loan spell with Clyde.

Chris was released by St.Mirren at the end of the 2003-04 season and he then moved on to Dumbarton but he only played 7 games at The Rock before moving to East Stirlingshire in the latter part of the 2004-05 season. After his contract with Shire expired Chris moved on to Berwick Rangers becoming a regular for The Borderers before moving on to Stranraer; however after 11 games at Stair Park Chris opted to return to Berwick in January 2007 and this spell over the Border lasted until the end of the 2007-08 season.

In July 2008 Chris signed for Stenhousemuir becoming the first player that John Coughlin had signed for three different clubs. After 31 matches at Ochilview Chris was on the move again and in July 2009 signed a short term deal with Brechin City, subsequently signing for rivals Forfar in October 2009 after the deal at Glebe Park expired. Chris was released by Forfar in July 2010 after only playing one match for the Station Park club.

In 2010 Chris dropped down to play junior football signing for Glenrothes and then moving on to Forth Wanderers after a season. Chris was appointed manager of Forth Wanderers in May 2013 before becoming Wishaw Juniors manager in October 2014.
