Dall was signed for the club alongside his twin stuart in season 81/82 by manager Pat Stanton as a 17 year old. He made his debut in February and retained his place until Stanton was replaced by Tam Forsyth who sold Bobby to Meadowbank Thistle in November 1982. Strangely Forsyth signed Bobby again at the start of 83/84 season but when he was replaced by Leishman Bobby was on the way out and joined Alloa Athletic.

17 year old twins Bobby and Stuart Dall were signed by Dunfermline manager Pat Stanton from North Merchiston Boys` Club in the summer of 1981.

Bobby made his first team debut at centre half in a goalless draw at Falkirk on 13th February 1982 and despite his tender years, retained his place in the team during a period of incessant reshuffling.

Stanton clearly rated him highly that same could not be said for his successor, Tom Forsyth. His first match in charge resulted in a 4-3 home defeat by St Johnstone and Bobby didn`t play again before being transferred to Meadowbank Thistle in November 1982.

The Edinburgh club won promotion to take the place of Dunfermline in the First Division though Bobby only made a handful of appearances, so it was something of a surprise when Forsyth brought him back to East End.

He began 1983/84 as first choice centre half, as the season rapidly disintegrated, the arrival of a new manager again did him no favours and after a total of 52 appearances for the Pars, Bobby was transferred to Alloa Athletic by Jim Leishman. Bobby scored only one goal for Dunfermline the winner in the 1-0 win over Queen of the South in November 1983.

He went on to play 119 times for the Wasps, scoring three goals, and was part of the team that gained promotion in 1984/85.

Brother Stuart Dall was an attacking left back who made nine senior appearances all of them for Dunfermline Athletic.
