Promising young winger, Archie Stevens was the second signing of the Michael Tidser era. The 19 year old signed from Rangers on loan on 31st January 2025 and made his debut the following day starting in the Fife derby at home to Raith.
Archie was only 16 years old when Rangers beat off significant competition to sign him from AFC Wimbledon in June 2022. A product of the Fulham Academy he moved to Wimbledon at the age of 13 and his performances featuring for Wimbledon`s Under-17s in the 2021-2022 season, winning the EFL Youth Alliance League attracted Rangers to secure him on a three-year contract when he made the move to Ibrox. Now in the final year of his contract with Rangers Archie is undoubtedly an exciting prospect.
A good wide player who himself lists his dribbling and speed his main attributes. He plays primarily on the right wing, exhibiting pace and a habit of scoring goals. He is clearly a confident individual with great natural ability. Detailing his strengths recently he said:- “I am a positive player who likes to get forward and I like to think I am quite exciting to watch when I have the ball.â€
The youngster`s talent didn`t take long to make an impression, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst gave him his senior debut just two months after arriving during a League Cup tie against Queen of the South on 30th August 2022. That made him the sixth youngest player ever to play for Rangers.
The former AFC Wimbledon youth enjoyed his first taste of the Ibrox atmosphere but his subsequent appearances were for the Rangers B team and between last season and this, Archie has made six appearances in the SPFL Trust Trophy. He was a standout and contender for goal of the match in the 2023 Scottish Youth Cup final.
Since his arrival at Ibrox there was constant interest in Archie with Brighton, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, West Ham and most recently Leeds United monitoring his progress.
Archie was capped for England U17s seven times, scoring once and then made three appearances for his country`s U18s.
