Dunfermline Athletic were delighted to clinch the signing of Andy Dowie for the 2009-10 season on a two year deal. This was subsequently extended and signed a one year deal for Jim Jefferies team on 9th July 2012.
Andy has previously played for Rangers, Partick Thistle, Stranraer and Ross County. The centre back made over 30 appearances for Ross County in the 2008-2009 season.
Having made his debut for Rangers (v Dunfermline) at just 18, Andy went on to play for Partick Thistle under Derek Whyte and Gerry Britton. He followed that with a season at Stranraer in 2005-06.
His past experiences of playing at Stranraer and more recently Ross County brought a strong understanding to the back line. He had already been capped 12 times at U21 level by Scotland. At Ross County he won Second Division championship and Challenge Cup winners medals.
He was part of the championship winning side of 2010/11 season. With the club going into administration Dowie was one of several players released in cost cutting measures in March 2013.
