Manager Jim Jefferies was delighted to make Alex Whittle his first signing for season 2012-13. Signed on a pre-contract in April 2012 Alex Whittle joined Dunfermline from the Nike Football Academy at the age of 19. Was used mainly as a sub in the pre administration part of that season with only six starts but after he was asked to play at left back Alex was ever present for the final 10 games of 2012-13 season.

Alex, who came through the youth ranks at the Liverpool Football Academy, agreed a three-year contract with DAFC. He joined Liverpool`s Academy when he was only six years old, spending 11 years at the Merseyside club before being released in 2011.

Alex, who has represented England at under-16 level, went on to join the Nike Football Academy, where his performances impressed several clubs on both sides of the border.

After leaving Dunfermline in the summer of 2015, Alex played for Fylde, Southport, York City, Forest Green, Boston United, Gloucester City and Cheltenham.
