An experienced half-back with more than 100 top-flight matches under his belt with Dundee, Leith Athletic and Hibs, John Crawford played regularly at right-half for the latter until the arrival of Celtic`s Peter Wilson (who would become Dunfermline`s player/manager in 1938).

Fielded at centre-half by the Pars, John made 61 consecutive appearances after signing and was one of only two ever-presents in 1935/36 as the club finished in its highest-ever league position.

A clever player who combined style with vigour, he was released in 1937 and went on to join Cowdenbeath.
