A skillful left winger who had won a League Cup winners medal with East Fife and a League Championship with Rangers.
He arrived at Dunfermline in 1961 from Raith Rovers but only played a handful of games. He later played for Cowdenbeath and is one of a select band of players who have played for four clubs in the Fife Cup.
Matthew was selected once for Scotland in 1954 to play against The British Army. However The British Army v Scotland match in season 1953/54 is not regarded as an official international.
